As a small business, we constantly evaluate risk and make assessments on possible outcomes. It's important to have a contingency plan in place. But I think it's safe to say that no business owner was fully prepared for the 2020 global health pandemic. If 2020 taught us nothing else, it is to expect the unexpected! Small businesses have struggled. Too many fellow business owners have been forced to close the doors on their dreams. It is truly heartbreaking. Sadelmager above all else is a family business. In 1999 my father, Bob Meadows, started All In Tack Saddle and Harness Repair, a custom and repair tack shop. He had been laid off from his corporate job and had to choose between two routes: return to the 9 to 5 that he was convinced would put him in an early grave, or “retire” early. He chose the latter, and characteristic of the family, his version of relaxation was starting his own business.
